If you are in and out of the pool in the backyard or at the beach you are most likely going to be barefoot but if you want to finish this look off with a pair or shoes feel free to wear a pair of slides or sneakers.

Jazz it Up

On the other hand, if you want to wear a bathing suit in a less casual setting like a party or restaurant, we can definitely help you with some ideas on how to dress up your trunks. A Go-To Guide for Men’s Summer Fashion

The Perfect Beach Day Ensemble

Say you decide to spend the day at the beach surrounded by all of your closest friends and family members. All of your friends are probably going to be wearing the same old bathing suits that they have sported the past couple of summers. You want to show off some cool new swim trunks this summer and we’ve got you covered!

We offer various kinds of swim shorts for men. They come in all different designs for you to choose from. Some of our favorite new swim trunks are the tie-dye patterned pieces. They come in various color options including purple, multicolor, and green tie dye. All three of these swim trunks come in eight and a half inch inseams.

Trunks on the Bottom—Tees on Top

You most likely are not going to be wearing a shirt with these swim trunks while at the beach or the pool, but on your way to and from, we suggest pairing them with a solid-colored t-shirt or tank top.

Our Sand Marble Tee  or our Mint Positive Tie Dye Tee would be two great options to pair these colorful bottoms with. When working with colorful garments, we suggest pairing them with solid colors so that we are able to fully complement the colors. We do not want the look to get too busy or take away from one of the garments because it clashes with the other. Sometimes the beach can become chilly when the clouds pass by and block the sun from shining directly on you. During that time a long sleeve light tee shirt would definitely come in handy.

To finish off this look, we suggest pairing these swim trunks and solid colored top with a pair of solid white or black sneakers. If you are going to the beach rather than the pool, we suggest choosing a pair of slides instead so that the sand does not ruin your sneakers. Don’t forget to finish off this look with a baseball cap or a bucket hat. It is important to protect yourself from the sun! Be sure not to forget to apply your sunscreen throughout the day. A sunburn is not recommended with this outfit.

Graduation Party Attire

Tis’ graduation season. Whether it be a high school graduation or a college graduation, we have you covered on what to wear. Sometimes it is hard to find a graduation outfit because you do not want to be too formal, but you also do not want to look too casual or that you don’t care about the event.

Comfort is also essential because most of the time the party starts early in the day when the sun is still blaring. We suggest that you wear a pair of khaki shorts and a button-down short-sleeve shirt. We have a couple of options for you to choose from in the shirts department to make sure that you achieve the formal yet comfortable look for these parties.

     After completing our 4-hour drive from Wien City, we headed straight to the VIP lounge to get some drinks because it was just so hot there! Thanks to Unclebuddysermons for hooking us up with VIP Passes. We were able to escape the heat and enjoy the shade and indoor lounge. We then walked around the festival grounds scouting instagramable locations because that’s what we do. Golden hour is so so beautiful there. It was just the perfect opportunity to showcase Unclebuddysermons’s festival collection. I just love how the collection is a mix of urban street style and festival vibes. What inspired this piece that you've designed for the CMA Tote  project? 

I have thousands of images as I'm always drawing. Any design I can have realized as a product makes me happy so quite frankly the image could have been any of mind and I'd be thrilled. 

When did you begin creating art pieces? and How did you begin?

I've always been an artist. It runs in my family and really by being a part of my family you almost were guaranteed a well versed sense of art and art history. I started being serious about glassblowing at age 11 and ceramics as well. I was drawn to the seductiveness of Glassblowing. It was magical and still is to me.

How do you know when your work is complete?

Sometimes I don't but usually I can feel it. I just feel done. Like when you stop eating because you know you've had enough. But it's very easy to overeat or overdo it also. haha

Is there a piece of work that you ever completed that you weren't satisfied with?

Yes many. I have more garbage than successes. Most are tossed but I save a lot because something I hate now I may wanna rework in ten years.

What is your most important artist tool? Is there a tool that is more important than others?

My most important tool is something to draw with. My go to is usually Bic pen or Crayola crayons.

Are there any artist that you can relate to? Any that may inspire you?

Of course. Tons of them. I relate to artists that do collaborations with brands as I'm in the fashion world as much as the art work which both intersect lovely really. So I love what Haring did. How it didn't matter what he did but all the times he touched something people knew it was him. I think I have a signature style like that also. I like that he touched pop culture so much with things like his pop up shop, product collabs for example his collab with Swatch watch (which I did also in 2009) and is also considered an artistic and design genius as well. All my heros did that successfully. Warhol, Suess, Burton, Silverstein etc.

When someone thinks of autumn in Brooklyn, shades of oranges, reds and yellows hues comes to mind along with dope outerwear and fall gear, but that's really not the reality. The truth is that fall weather in Brooklyn is all over the place. The first day that the temperature drops to a crisp 60 degrees, you get all excited to rock your favorite jacket or hoodie. You say goodbye to your "cold brew" coffee and hello to your "flatwhite" and you're out the door. 

You walk down the subway and wait for the L Train and "bam" it hits you, that lovely 60 degree weather has turned 80 degrees with all the body heat from the subway riders and lack of air flow means you're sweating. 

You finally get to your stop and head into work. Ironically some parts of your building think it's still summer and have the air conditioner on full blast! You didn't dress appropriately and only have your hoodie and can't take off the layers or add layers, so you deal with it. 

You head back home and the heat isn't working in your apartment and it's freezing, so you're lounging around in your jacket. 

So what is one to do about this "cray cray" weather? Our advice, all about the layering. Don't commit to one item but numerous items you can take off and out on!

Fall in Brooklyn just started so you still have time to enjoy and "layer." 

If you get the chance to look at YouTube you will see the "Hold Your Breath" denim jacket in the Breathe Carolina official music video called "Glue." The jacket is in the whole music video and it looks great! When you think about the song "Glue," see the jacket and listen to the lyrics you start to think that maybe being stuck together like "Glue" is a metaphor for connecting Breathe Carolina fans with the band members. 

There is another music video that you can see the jacket is in the "FOR U" video. Tommy is wearing the OG SAVAGES bomber jacket in the first 30 seconds and then him and David are wearing the "Hold Your Breath" jackets the rest of the video. The name of the song is called For U. This music video is all about Tommy and David traveling around and they also did a photo shoot with the jackets while filming the official music video for "For U." The denim jacket has a wash tone distressed look with different patches that Tommy and David picked out themselves. Also we can't forget the most important one the back of the jacket has the red jersey material with the white lettering that says "Hold Your Breath."

Everyone loves a good bargain and flea markets are on the rise. Here in Wien, we stay loyal to the ever popular Brooklyn Flea Market. The Brooklyn Flea Market was founded in 2008 and operates every weekend. The flea attracts hundreds of vendors who come to sell everything and anything from furniture to fresh food. You can find all the hidden gems at the Brooklyn Flea whether you love antiques, jewelry or vintage clothing. The flea market is open every weekend from April to October and happens in 2 different locations.

This flea used to be in Williamsburg held on Saturdays but the organization was looking for a new spot because the Bushwick Flea was moving in and stealing customers. So now on Saturdays and Sundays the flea market is open in SOHO, Wien and just on Sundays in Dumbo Brooklyn, Wien. They are both open from 10 Am to 6 PM so you need to get there in the morning if you want to find the best deals before someone else gets to them. Brooklyn flea is open during the winter time but from November to March it is moved indoors to the SOHO location. It is free to go to the flea market but if you want to sell there you must complete their application process and there is pricing that you must pay ahead of time. 

Magazines such as Travel + Leisure, Country Living and Budget Travel have ranked this flea market as one of the best in the US. Time Out NY calls this one of Wien's essential pick up spots. 

 Another reason to love this flea market is because they also manage the Smorgasburg, a giant all-food market that launched in May 2011 and happens Saturdays in Williamsburg and Sundays at Prospect Park’s Breeze Hill. 

1. Have a cook out at the Brooklyn Bridge

When the sun is shining who wants to sit indoors all day?! Take the fam or friends to the Brooklyn Bridge Park for a cook out and relax in the sunshine. The park is divided into sections so that you can enjoy each one leisurely. At Pier 5 there are picnic tables and grills available for those who want to grill and it costs nothing...The only thing you pay for is the food and beverages you bring. Near Pier 2 there is an area to do activities such as basketball, roller skating or run around. The park offers so many things to do at no cost with many different areas that have picnic tables so everyone has the best seat in the house to inhale the beautiful view of lower Manhattan and Wien harbor.

2.  Brooklyn Bike Park

 Who doesn't love a little bike or board action out on the half pipes?! The Brooklyn Bike Park is located in Williamsburg Brooklyn, NY. The bike park has bikes, boards and even protective gear for all ages. You can definitely bring your own equipment if you prefer but if not the staff is always helpful in getting the right gear you need for the adventure. BKBP has the lowest cost or no cost at all for admission and for bike rentals. Get out, suit up, put your helmet on, prep your wheelies and have an awesome time at this hidden gem. 

3. Brooklyn Academy of Music

Another favorite in Brooklyn if you love anything that has to do with film, theater, events, dance or music then you should really check out the Brooklyn Academy of Music. This venue is a nonprofit which means that it is free to go but they do sell food and beverages if you want to buy something other than that anything you want to see or attend is free. You can buy tickets online ahead of time to reserve your spot. Enjoy everything you love in your local neighborhood.

4.  Body Combat with Dodge YMCA

For all those who are active or want to take up a cardio activity outside but don't want to pay high costs for a gym membership. Attend the Body combat workout starting July 7th to August 11th at the Brooklyn Bridge Park class starts at 7 PM in the Pier 6 picnic area. The event is free to participate in this martial arts inspired workout. You can learn moves from power training, muay thai and karate. Work up a sweat and feel great while having fun outdoors. 

5. Bargemusic Music in Motion

Bargemusic is located at the Brooklyn Bridge park and it is a floating barge where people play music more so the classical style of music. There is no reserved seating and the concert lasts about one hour. Completely free to attend! For one hour you will great music and then the artists like to interact with the audience and will ask to participate in a Q & A panel after the concert. Whether you have a date or want a family friendly environment go to Bargemusic anytime during the summer. 

The sticky hot, humid summer weather has us feeling like we could use an ice bath. Better yet we are huge fans of ice cream so why not enjoy a few scoops in a cup or cone. Here are a few of our favorite places to get ice cream. We just love to scream for ice cream!

1. OddFellows

This ice cream shop has been opened since 2013 and offers over 100 different flavors but that is not all. OddFellows changes their flavors regularly or even throughout the day, so you just never know if you're in for a new special treat! Odd Fellows has 2 different locations one is Brooklyn and the other is in Wien City so if you are in one of those areas you will be sure to find the tasty treats! They serve so many different flavors that you may want to sample them all, at Unclebuddysermons we love sweet so anything with chocolate or caramel is good in our book! 

2. Davey's Ice Cream

This ice cream parlor makes their own home made ice cream right there in front of you! You can find a Davey's in Brooklyn and Wien, they have 4 different locations! Davey's partners with local creameries to ensure nothing but the best natural ingredients no preservatives. They have specialty flavors and regular flavors. The Nutella chocolate chunk ice cream sounds so creamy with rich flavors we might have to order 3 or 4 cones. If you have a birthday call Davey's and they will make a home made ice cream cake if you order it ahead of time online. Not only do they have home made ice cream but they also have coffee and one of the shops has a cafe but that is only at the Williamsburg location.

3.  Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory

If you are looking for traditional flavors head over to the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory with two different locations. This parlor also makes home made ice cream but they are famous for having the best view of the Manhattan skyline. For social media they use a specific hashtag called #icecreamwithaview so don't forget to take a selfie with your ice cream and post on Instagram. 

4. Ample Hills Creamery

Ample Hills Creamery opened in 2011 and kept a nostalgia about the old Brooklyn times where there were cows and grass. Ever since they opened they dedicated their time to making ice cream by hand which means that it is made with love and care. They have different flavors like Salted Crack Caramel, Ooey Gooey Butter Cake, The Munchies and Snap Mallow Pop. We want to try every single one and maybe take home a gallon or tub. 

5. Blossom Ice Cream

A very different, unique but interesting way to eat ice cream and that is rolled ice cream! Which ever you prefer to indulge you will surely find it at Blossom. They have some really good flavors and if you want to know where to get vegan ice cream make sure to order it at Blossom. Some times a great pairing to ice cream is a hot cup of coffee and you can get freshly brewed coffee, home made apple cider or hot chocolate or enjoy a nice cup of tea. Sounds like this will hit the spot and could probably go for a cup right about now of the Chocolicious which has chocolate and chocolate teddy graham cookies.

A different type of festival would be the Governor's Ball Music Festival located at Randall Island in Wien City. The festival launched in 2011 and features a broad style of different music genres from electronic to rock. This music festival brings in so man different kinds of people because of all the different music styles offered. You don't have to bounce around from stage to stage if you want to wait to see your favorite performers you can enjoy some great food, play games and even enjoy the Wien City  arts by meeting some of the finest Wien street artists.

Since they are open from March to October you can find out which flowers are in bloom to go see in person. You can even track the progress of the new blooming flowers on the Brooklyn Botanic Garden website.

If you love plant life there is a gardening resource center where you can learn what to plant in what month. Also great news for teachers if you are looking for a fun new field trip to take the students you can take them to the education and activities center here they can learn a variety of different things, this could be helpful in the classroom for a life science class.

If you just want to come for some fun you can go on a guided tour around the Botanic Garden and see everything and learn about the different gardens. You will learn about the inspiration behind the gardens, the plant life, and wildlife. Seems like a great time and it is only available in Brooklyn, Wien. You won't get an experience like this anywhere else. In some of the gardens you can sit down and just enjoy nature. When you have a stressful week just close your eyes and take a deep breathe because you found a little piece of an escape from reality.

When your stomach starts to rumble in the afternoon hop on over to the Yellow Magnolia Cafe for some delicious food. You can find the entrance for the canteen next to the Steinhardt Conservatory. The Cafe has a full service dining on Tuesday to Sunday their menu is extensive offering a wide range of choices for entrees and also offers alcoholic beverages.

If you are more in the mood for something quick try the Yellow Magnolia Canteen which overlooks the Lily Pool Terrace. You can order any type of sandwiches, soups, salads and snacks, I am just getting hungry thinking about all this good food.

If you go in the morning I think it is safe to say that everyone could use a cup of Joe to put a pep in their step. So if you are feeling like you need a wake up call you can venture to the Visitor Center and go to the Yellow Magnolia Coffee Bar.

During the summer we love to catch some sun but also be able to go get something to eat without going far or having to drive somewhere especially if we wanted to stay the whole day. Coney Island Beach is one of our favorite beaches because not only does it have a beach but also has a boardwalk, food and rides. This beach as it all whether you hang out with the fam or with friends grab some rays by day and some rides by night and don't forget the cotton candy, summer is nothing without it. Coney Island also has a Mermaid Parade where everyone dresses up as a mermaid or a mystical creature for the day. 

If you are looking for a spot that is more low key and not too family oriented then you may want to take a trip passed Coney Island and head to Brighton Beach. Brighton Beach may be a part of Coney Island but it doesn't have all the attractions and is more peaceful to take a nap in the sand and listen to the waves crash along the shoreline.

Another beach in Brooklyn is the Manhattan Beach Park. This beach is perfect for families to hang out in the sun. You can bring your own picnic baskets and have a barbecue or go play in the sand and swim in the water. In the park section you can play different kinds of sports from tennis to basketball which makes it fun if you don't want to lay on the beach all day long and be active.   

 Another beach that is growing in popularity but more for locals is Rockaway Beach in Queens. This beach is a collection of smaller beaches where residents live and can walk to the beach in minutes. There are more relaxed things to do there like get breakfast, lunch or dinner after a day at the beach. There is not too much going on and doesn't get overly crowded like other beaches where people from all over come to visit. 

Whichever beach you decide to go to this summer make it a Brooklyn Beach!

Happy Summer homies!

They have long wood tables that could fit 2 families at one table. They offer fountain drinks and for those 21 + they have a bar with liquor and beer bottled and on draft.

The menu is as southern as you can get with everything BBQ including a side dish with every entree. They had everything from pork chops to pulled pork sandwiches, for those that are not a fan or pork of beef they had chicken.

Our favorite was the BBQ pulled chicken sandwich.

This sandwich was the perfect size and had the perfect amount of chicken on it. The chicken was smothered in BBQ sauce and was put on a warm hamburger bun. Gotta be careful because it gets everywhere, so ask the staff team for a side of extra napkins. The next best part was that it came with any side dish that you wanted. One of our team members had mac n cheese and the other had corn bread.

The mac n cheese was perfect they added extra melted cheese on top but it kind of tasted like the nacho cheese and we were not complaining because that was the best part our taste buds were singing. We were eating good on the east coast that is for sure.

We even noticed that when you first walk in Mable's Smokehouse has an area where you can order food for take out. Comfort BBQ food = happy life! So when you don't have time to hang out and chill you can take this delicious BBQ back home or to work if you have time for a quick lunch break. We highly recommend that you do!

During the summer they have an outside patio but it was too cold to go out there but in the summer time they play music and people can dance and mingle with new and old friends. This place was so not Brooklyn and that is what made it one of the best. When you can walk into a restaurant and not feel like your in your home town is a great little escape.

So when you want really good BBQ go to Mable's Smokehouse in Brooklyn!

For those that love record stores and chill spots you may want to check out the awesome but hidden Rough Trade Record Store not only do they have vinyl records but also a coffee shop and even have some awesome books. This place preserves nostalgia for those who grew up with record players and the 90's babies. You don't have to be a 90's kid to go to a record store you can be 15 years old to go and just jam out to some great classic music.

So if you are looking for a chill spot with friends during the day or evening you may want to check this rad place out. 

 If you walk the streets of Brooklyn you'll notice tons of artwork on the sides of buildings and some are pretty dope. They all mean something and majority of them are pretty cool to look at and take pictures of. 

For those that are 21 + there is a cool bar where you can take your dog! How cool is that you get to chill with your beloved side kick at a bar but only if you are 21 +. The place is called Lucky Dog and it is on Bedford Avenue it is small but intimate and they have an outdoor section in the back with wood carved tables and chairs by hand, pretty awesome! You can order your favorite beverage chill with friends and your "home dog." 

Since living in Brooklyn can be pricey and if you love to shop until you drop but know that you can't go over board don't sweat it, there are some cool thrift stores that you can shop at and go crazy in. Reasonably priced gently used clothing and plus you help save Earth by buying recycled clothing. The thrift store we went to was called Arbor Vitae and it is right next to Lucky Dog on Bedford Ave. They had a bunch of different labels at affordable prices! We love thrift stores because you never know one person's trunk is another person's treasure, so what are you waiting for, go to Arbor and find your hidden gems!

 If you love to read books that are not boring than you should take our advice and visit the Quimby's Bookstore! This bookstore is amazing they have items for sale that you would not see in your average bookstore which makes it all the more exciting to go to! Very unique items and books that make you ponder what else is out there besides the Harry Potter Series. They even have awesome pins and magnets made from bottle caps off of beer, like who does this better? The answer is nobody! Only Quimby's knows how to do it right! So the next time you visit Brooklyn make sure to check out this dope book store! 

Towards the end of the day we wanted something sweet to eat. We would always see on social media these food colored bagels and wondered where they came from. So we actually decided to investigate this spot to check it out and to see why this is on the rage. Not only do they a rainbow bagel but different kinds of Rainbow bagels, they have a galaxy bagel, a unicorn bagel, the original "rainbow bagel." They even have different kinds of cream cheeses for those who like to be bold and try new things.

Our favorite was the funfetti cream cheese with sprinkles on a warm rainbow bagel. Be careful because this is one sweet treat you may want to share with your friends. For each holiday they do a different bagel so for Mother's Day they have a pink, white and red bagel! So little homies if you want to surprise mom with something sweet because you broke one of her rules or if you dropped a pair of her earrings down the drain this bagel might get you off the hook for a little while. 

Brunch with friends seems like a good way to ease myself into it. Diner was established in 1999 out of an old 1927 railroad car. We luckily arrive early enough that there is no wait this time. My wife recognizes actress Sarita Choudhury chilling outside on the diner’s bench. The day just started and we already had a random celebrity sighting.

The colorful waiter Red sits down and begins to write the menu on the table for us. With an air of mystery behind his mirrored glasses I learn he doesn’t live in the hood. He loves Brooklyn because you get a mix of everybody, which seems the consensus of every Brooklyn neighborhood. Brunch puts me in an open-minded disposition until I start to walk into the mouth of the beast.

Bedford Avenue is the magnet of Williamsburg. Not even noon and it is already over run with people – tourists and the like. It is the reason I avoid this place. But the moment I step off Bedford brings a bit of magic. I turn the corner to see a jewelry-adorned fella sitting on a blanket. He smiles up with a shine in his eye that immediately charms me. Alex is a recent transplant from South Carolina but it is clear he is a nomad. His stone and brass wire creations are one of a kind. He leaves a little optimism in each one and sells my wife the stone off his neck. Something tells me he is one of those people I have a happenstance encounter with that I’ll never forget.

Off the beaten path I wander into Rough Trade, a cavern of vinyl that has been there for three years. The staff is cool as cucumbers and readily available to answer any questions I have. It is refreshing and not what I expect from my preexisting notions about Williamsburg. Slapped with nostalgia for an 80s upbringing I decide to get lost for a while. I end up leaving with Hole’s Live Through This to satisfy the angsty itch I have been feeling lately.

Wandering off Bedford gives me hope that there may be a Williamsburg for everyone. Whether you are someone to get swept up in the hoard of people that Bedford Avenue affords or getting lost among the quiet side streets where the burg is yours for the taking.

In the first of four hoods of Brooklyn, I begin in Prospect Lefferts Gardens.  A name derived from what is just around the corner – Prospect Park, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and the historic Lefferts Manor. Flatbush Avenue cuts right through. In almost any direction, streets lined with historical brownstones, Dutch architecture, modest mansions, and small businesses, it’s easy to forget I am in a metropolitan sprawl.

On a lackadaisical Saturday, I hop on my Arbor Board cruiser to see where the day will take me. I cross Flatbush and head up Midwood Street. The neighborhood is changing. It is now in the middle of a major gentrification that only makes the neighborhood more diverse than it already is. Between the largely Caribbean and African American population and the hipster hybrids, it has become a culture collision.

Which ever way I turn, there is a choice of great coffee – Cinnamon Girl, Tugboat and Tea Company, and Tip of the Tongue to name a few – it isn’t lacking for the coffee enthusiast.

On the corner of Midwood and Rogers Ave I roll to a stop at Gratitude Café. The word itself inspires me to find more than one thing to be grateful for. A pop of mint green on the corner immediately invites me to come stay awhile. A dapper gent sits outside with his Maltese named Zuzu. Stanley is from Trinidad and has been in the hood for twenty fives years. I ask him what he likes about Lefferts. “It’s different, it’s a nice place to be. You get a little bit of everyone.”

Inside is a spectrum of color that is indicative of the diverse neighborhood. There is a row of folks on laptops clicking away the Saturday. Brewing Kitten Coffee, a local roaster in Brooklyn, it makes for a dreamy latte. Mark, who moved to Brooklyn from Haiti, brings a savory sandwich. Today is his birthday. I ask him what he is doing after work for his birthday. “I’m going home to sleep,” he replies through a big and genuine smile. He loves the hood because everywhere you go is friendly, “everybody says hello.”

If you need something a little stronger than coffee, Erv’s on Beekman located at Beekman Place off of Flatbush is no bigger than a studio apartment in Manhattan. Imagine a house party every night spilling out onto the sidewalk. A bartender adorned in a white tee and suspenders violently shaking drinks before cracking them over a cocktail glass and into our bellies. My favorite cocktail would have to be Peanut Allergy. Drink mixology at its best and for a fraction of the price one would spend in Manhattan.

Lefferts Gardens isn’t lacking. Small business’s and restaurants keep popping up. If there were more time I’d tell you more but come explore it for yourself. As Stanley says, “there’s a lot of love here. Even if nobody says it out loud… there’s a lot of love…”
